Thomas Fermor and the Sons of Witney

Paperback and Hardcover available now

A recusant family story from “Roses” to Restoration… and the quest for freedom of assembly, press, petition, speech, and religion.

Two hundred years of rising economic prosperity elevated Thomas Fermor’s family from affluence within the Hundreds of the Cotswold, to influence within the House of Commons.

But the intensified animosity between royal supremacy and personal independence strengthened the religious fervor, emboldened revolts, and plotted regicide.

Some family members emigrated to inhospitable shores to escape an incompetent monarch, while others remained to inflame Rebels, Royalists, and Roundheads of the Three Kingdoms into a civil war, execute a bankrupt king, and momentarily grant the head of state to a citizen.

Faust: Go Ahead… Make Your Day

“Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but the highest form of intelligence.”  – Oscar Wilde

In 1996, a troublesome ferret first appeared in The Goldpanner, a local newspaper near North Pole, Alaska and had a brief life as a webcomic from 2009-2010. This book is the collection of the comics from The Goldpanner (Alaska), The Gulf View (Saudi Arabia), and the now defunct FaustTheComic.com website.

Faust is a former government laboratory test ferret, who through experimentation of the troops’ food supply has grown to extreme proportions.  Through his sudden introduction into the human world, Faust seeks knowledge of this fascinating society but finds himself enslaved by his job(s) and their strange promise of wealth, respect, and prestige.  His frequent trips into the pharmaceutical world and the entrapments of ultimate health, happiness, and beauty constantly bring him misfortune and empty fulfillment.  Like the alchemist in the original medieval story, Faust sarcastically pursues his inner voice to make gold while ignoring the clouds’ silver lining:  but is it the “devil inside” or like Job, God’s chosen path, tests, and salvation plan for each of us?
